EA Sports introduced a new location based recruiting visit system in this year’s game. The basics of it are really straightforward. A recruit who lives close to your school costs less to bring in for a visit than a recruit that lives on the other side of the country.
Visit costs range from 10 hours to 40 hours. So you can host 4 recruits right in your backyard for the same cost as flying one recruit in from across the country.
This is a great change and makes a lot of sense. Big schools with plenty of recruiting hours to spare might not bat an eye at the 40 hour cost to bring in a 5 star recruit. Smaller schools, however, will have to really spend their recruiting hours much more wisely.
Much like many other features of dynasty mode, the new location based visit cost is not explained in detail anywhere in the game or online.
There are a ton of recruits that are somewhere in the middle. Maybe they aren’t right in your backyard, but they also aren’t clear across the country.
When you first start adding players to your board in Week 0 you don’t have the option to schedule a visit so you don’t have a good way of knowing what their visit will cost when that recruit narrows down his list to the top 5.
For example, let’s say you are UCLA and are considering adding a recruit from Salt Lake City, Utah. He’s not exactly in your backyard but he also isn’t in New York or Florida. How much would that visit cost?
The visit costs are based on the Proximity To Home grade. We put together the table below that explains the visit cost for each grade.

Using this table as a reference, you can just check a recruit’s motivations at any point and know how much a potential visit would cost.
Let’s take the recruit above as an example. You see he has a B+ Proximity To Home grade, so using the table we put together, you know this recruit will require a cost of 15 hours to schedule a visit when that becomes an option.
Again, this probably isn’t a big deal for big schools. If you see a top player and have 1000 hours to use per week, it may not matter to you whether it costs 30 or 40 hours to host a recruit.
When you only have 400 recruiting hours, however, those extra 10 hours mean a lot more.
