College Football 25 Offensive Tempo

How The New Offensive Tempo Options Work In College Football 25

Ian by Ian
June 2, 2024

College Football 25 introduces a new Tempo system which allows you to completely control the pace of the game when you are on offense.

There are four offensive tempo settings ranging from a grinding, clock milking, scheme all the way to a lightning fast offense that doesn’t give your opponent time to make many adjustments.

You can universally adjust this setting at the play call screen by selecting the “Coach Adjustments” option (R3 – directly down on the right stick) at the playcall screen.

By the way, the screenshot above shows off the completely reworked play call screen which is now broken up into multiple quadrants.

Once you click on the coach adjustments options, a new screen will appear giving you the option to set your “Tempo.”

At that screen you can easily adjust the default tempo that your offense will move at. Those tempos are turbo, no huddle, normal, and chew clock. The turbo adjustment is completely new to College Football 25 but each setting comes with some pros and cons.

Turbo

The Turbo tempo is just like it sounds. It is a rapid, rush to the line offense where no one on the field has time to catch their breath.

The downside of this tempo is you won’t be able to call any hot routes or audible so it can be pretty limiting if you want full access to adjustments.

Both offensive and defensive players on the field will become fatigued at a faster rate.

If you want your team to go at the “Tempo” pace when your coach adjustments are set to a different setting, you can do so by holding down X on XBOX or Square on PlayStation after the play.

Note: You will still be able to spike the ball by using the “Tempo” pace but you will not have to line up in a special spike the ball formation like you did in the past.

No Huddle

No Huddle is one speed slower than “Tempo.” Your team will still get more tired than usual but the defense will not be able to sub players out.

You’ll still be able to call hot routes as usual and can audible to formations that use a similar personnel package.

You can activate No Huddle either in your coach adjustments or by holding Y on XBOX or Triangle on PlayStation after the play.

With both the No Huddle and Blur tempos you can get out of them and choose to huddle up by pressing B/circle after a play.

Normal

Normal tempo is the default option. You have full access to your entire playbook and your players will get a little more rest but the defense will also be able to get their rest and match your personnel group.

Chew Clock

You’ll want to use the Chew Clock tempo when you are up by multiple scores at the end of the game. This will make the end of the game go a little faster so you don’t have to wait 40 seconds between each play call.

Another thing to be aware of is when your are kneeling at the end of a game and it is mathematically impossible for your opponent to get the ball back, the game will just end instead of you having to come out multiple times kneeling and then running 40 seconds off the play clock and then kneeling again a couple of times.

This should save you a minute or two at the end of some games.

CPU Tempo Adjustments

When you are playing a single player game, the team you are playing against will have the freedom to implement their own tempos.

Some opponents will use a no huddle or turbo offense while others will use slower and more methodical offenses but these tempos can change based on the game situation.
