For those of us who passionately follow every development surrounding EA Sports College Football, we find ourselves in a weird spot.
The initial hype of EA’s announcement that college football video games are coming back has died down. It’s hard to believe that was well over 2 years ago now.
And we still have well over a year until EA Sports College Football 25 is scheduled to be released.
EA’s intent is to build this new game from the ground up. It won’t just be a reskin of the old NCAA Football games. That sort of effort takes a lot of time and resources.
Even though we haven’t heard anything from them in over 6 months, we do know they are hard at work gathering assets to use in the game.
David Waters is a reporter/podcaster who covers the University of Florida’s football program. He reported recently that a team from EA was out at The Swamp gathering footage for the game. Once in early February and then again in late April.
There are many special traditions in college football. In fact, it is what sets the game apart from many pro sports. One of the coolest of those traditions takes place at the University of Florida where players touch a gator head before they take the field.

The gator head touch was featured in the NCAA Football 13 video game and looks to be making a comeback in EA College Football 25.
If you don’t remember what that entrance looked like, here’s a refresher:
We added the audio but the video was captured directly from NCAA Football 13. The new game’s visuals will be significantly upgraded since it is coming out 10+ years after the one shown. It’s just meant to give you an idea of the type of thing EA is capturing.
EA has proposed a revenue share of 10% for the colleges that participate in the game which allows them to use the schools’ images and trademarks.
It also secures their help with the intricacies of their gameday atmosphere and allows their crews to capture footage that they can then render into the game.
We have to assume that similar efforts are taking place across the country to get everything ready for the July 2024 release date.
Lately everyone has gotten out of the Swamp alive. War Eagle!
