Over 150 playbooks will be in EA Sports College Football 25 according to the game listings at both Walmart and GameStop.
EA had previously announced that unique playbooks for each team were a high priority for this year’s game but now we know there will be more than just 134 FBS teams’ playbooks.
Here is the quote listed on the Walmart website:
“Featuring 134 FBS teams, over 150 playbooks, diverse playstyles and a massive variety in player ratings, you can experience action that will test your strategic decision-making with an all-new composure system, player Wear & Tear and screen-shaking homefield advantages.”
We recently put together a resource that goes over every playbook in NCAA Football 14. It has every formation and play in the game so if you want to take a walk down memory lane, we encourage you to do so.
Here are a few of our favorite plays from that game:

Note: Our playbook resource will be updated with all of the College Football 25 playbooks in late July.
For now, we can use it to get a better idea of what these extra playbooks will look like.
If we look at how NCAA Football 14 playbooks were structured, we can see that there are unique offensive playbooks for all of the FBS teams, some alternate offensive playbooks, and a handful of defensive playbooks to choose from.
There were 10 alternate offensive playbooks that year:
- Air Raid
- Multiple
- One Back
- Option Run
- Pistol
- Pro Style
- Run and Shoot
- Run Balanced
- Spread
- Spread Option
And there were 7 defensive playbooks to choose from in NCAA Football 14:
The alternate offensive playbooks and the defensive playbooks in College Football 25 may not have the exact same name as in NCAA Football 14 but it will be something close.
By doing simple math, you can see how the numbers add up:
134 FBS team playbooks + 10 alternate offensive playbooks + 7 defensive playbooks = 151 total playbooks.
If we look back on the quote given to GameStop and Walmart, “over 150 playbooks,” is marketing speak for just a little over 150.
The bulk of the resources went into offensive playbooks instead of defense and that is welcome news for those of us who enjoy creating our own unique offensive schemes!
More CFB 25 News
Onto some other College Football 25 news: there are 3 editions of the game that you can pre order. We briefly covered this in an earlier article but we’ll touch on it here again.
You can purchase the Standard Edition for $69.99, the Deluxe Edition for $99.99, or the MVP Edition (CFB 25 Deluxe + Madden 25 Deluxe) for $149.99.
The Deluxe Edition and MVP Editions are digital downloads only. You cannot get a physical copy of the game from purchasing either of those.
The Standard Edition is the only version that gives you the option of having a physical disc.
The Walmart pre order for the standard edition comes with an “Exclusive Steelbook.” We don’t yet know exactly what that looks like but if you are a hardcore fan or game collector, that may be something that interests you.

Let’s go! This is excellent news!
