We knew that it was always a dream to have 100% player participation in EA Sports College Football 25 but now it’s official.
University of Texas quarterback Arch Manning has decided to opt out of the video game with his reasoning being that he wanted to focus on “playing football on the field.”
He’ll miss out on the $600 cash payment and a free copy of the game, but we’re confident that Peyton and Eli Manning’s nephew will find a way to survive without the money.
For those of you already coming up with a scheme to include Arch Manning in the game simply by editing him in, EA Sports has already announced that won’t be possible.
How far they take that remains to be seen. Will we be able to edit in an “Archibald Manning?” How about “March Tanning?” We’ll have to wait a few more months to see what kind of workarounds are viable.
This is a significant blow to EA Sports. The last thing they want is a string of high profile players to opt out of the upcoming game. Luckily for them, they announced earlier in the day that over 10,000 athletes have already signed on.
They are over 90% of the way to their goal of around 11,000 total athletes featured in the game making this the largest single sport licensing program in history.
Shedeur Sanders is another quarterback with a famous relative who hasn’t yet opted in. The unofficial deadline EA gave players to opt in is April 1st, 2024.
We’ll be on the lookout for any other players that opt out of the new game.
